We had a very helpful visitor yesterday.

Going back out to work after lunch, my business partner Toni opened the door to the shed we had been working in all morning and a beautiful big Eastern Brown Snake came slithering out less than a metre from her feet. He then proceeded to investigate all the crates she was getting ready to wash, before taking off (very quickly) around the front of the house, back out to the back yard and through the pool yard (which at the time had a chicken and a dog being contained in it... we quickly removed them) out into the paddock.

It apparently then made its way through a hole in the shed again where it took up residence in the room we were working in. Toni (again) startled him when she walked into the room-- he quickly disappeared, the only problem was that we don't know WHERE he went. LOL And of course we still had work to do, so we had to keep going in the room...we just made sure we stomped a lot...as it's never a good idea to sneak up on the world's second most venomous snake.

Isn't he pretty?

Meep! I'm not really scared of snakes, but I definitely have a healthy respect for them, particularly the poisonous ones.

I have a very healthy respect for all snakes, especially the venomous ones... but I have found over the years that as long as you stay clam and don't make them feel threatened, they don't really have any interest in biting you... after all, you're much too big to eat. Many people get bitten by browns each year, often it's because they are chasing them to 'kill the snake'... sometimes it is just because they've accidentally snuck up on the snake and startled it... I'm doing my best to be very noisy whenever I'm outside at the moment. LOL
