A visitor

We had a very helpful visitor yesterday.

Going back out to work after lunch, my business partner Toni opened the door to the shed we had been working in all morning and a beautiful big Eastern Brown Snake came slithering out less than a metre from her feet. He then proceeded to investigate all the crates she was getting ready to wash, before taking off (very quickly) around the front of the house, back out to the back yard and through the pool yard (which at the time had a chicken and a dog being contained in it... we quickly removed them) out into the paddock.

It apparently then made its way through a hole in the shed again where it took up residence in the room we were working in. Toni (again) startled him when she walked into the room-- he quickly disappeared, the only problem was that we don't know WHERE he went. LOL And of course we still had work to do, so we had to keep going in the room...we just made sure we stomped a lot...as it's never a good idea to sneak up on the world's second most venomous snake.

Isn't he pretty?

Meep! I think I may just stay on my small, snake-free, island.

One of the things I like best about living where I do is that all of the local snakes are non-venomous. Very pretty, but yikes!

Why did it have to be snakes?

Glad everyone is ok!

It is pretty.... for a snake. How calm were you and your assistant? Were you freaking out?

I how you find your pretty friend. What will you do with him when you find him?

Meep! I'm not really scared of snakes, but I definitely have a healthy respect for them, particularly the poisonous ones.

He is a beautiful snake, but I think I'm glad I don't get visitors like that while I'm at work.

Oh my... Venomous Australian snakes always make me think of Steve Irwin and the glee on his face when he told you "this beauty could kill you in seconds...!!"

Being in a room with one on the loose? I'd die.

That? That right there? Is why I live in Canada. (Well, that and Canada is where the boat stopped.)
