“Do you remember...anything?” she asked. “You know, from when you were...”
“Dead?” Spike offered.
Buffy nodded.
He shook his head. “Nothing.”
“Oh.” Buffy smiled sadly. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be,” Spike said, his unfocused eyes flicking rapidly around the dimly lit crypt. “Not sure that I would though, would I?” he asked, frowning. “ Remember, that is. If old William was the one to do the moving on, stands to reason I wouldn’t remember any of it.”
His head tilted slightly, his gaze narrowing as he asked, “What about you, love? How much do you remember?”
“Too much,” Buffy replied quietly.

I don't think Spike is denying that he is William as such, just acknowledging that the part of him that would have moved on when he died--his soul--belonged to William, not him.
