Well, you already know that I liked it, but I thought I'd make it official. This makes a lovely prequel to the first fic. Hallie is suitably sly and coniving, preying on Anya's vulnerability, creating doubts in her mind and undermining her instinctual feeling of belonging. I'm very glad that I had already read the other fic so that I knew things worked out in the end, but this little scene was just a lovely portrayal in any case.

Yeah, but I'm awake now and I owe S2C a Ganya fic and he sounds so totally depressed with CW off on holiday without him and his daughter staying with her grandparents in Australia and if I finish it tonight he might get to read it before he goes to bed (since he's a night shift generally nocturnal sort of person).

Oh, very nice! Great Anya voice, and I love your descriptions of the way she thinks of her relationships with the scoobies and with Giles. Are you posting it to 12months? Also, I enjoyed the drabbles, particularly "A Heart's Refuge" - cute!

Yes I am going to post it to 12months... it was just so late last night by the time I got this up that I couldn't focus... HAD to go to bed.

Just caught up with both of these stories and really enjoyed them – just delightful. You’ve got Anya and Giles’ voices absolutely spot-on, and what I most enjoy is that you're definitely not mocking but very sympathetic and genuine. And that’s hard with Anya not to turn her into solely a comedy piece.
Lots of lovely lines to pick out – but like that she amuses and interests Giles.
Great stuff – looking forward to more from this serious :)

Thank you! I am really glad you are enjoying the series. I adore Giles and he is always great fun to write.

Anya I love.... and I do enjoy writing her but she is harder work... to try and keep the voice as very much HER without going too far and making a mockery of her I find takes a lot of rereading over every line. I am so glad that you think I have her voice right... because that is the one thing about writing this series that does worry me.

Oh... if you want to read some absolutely brilliant Ganya try talesofspike's series... just lovely!
