Surrender my heart.

Sunlight filtered through the curtains, bathing the room in the soft golden light that signalled the start of a new day; a new life. Anya stifled a yawn, smiling as the arms that cradled her tightened fractionally at her slight movement. Settling back and resting her head against his chest she allowed her mind to drift back to the previous night.

Rupert’s inventiveness and prowess had left nothing to be desired and had proven beyond doubt that experience was worth considerably more than youthful exuberance. His tenderness, however, had been her undoing; the way he looked at her, the worshipful touches, and the soft words that sent tingles of the oh-so-very-good kind coursing through her body as he whispered them against her skin, these had combined to steal her breath, her will, and the last tiny piece of her heart that she had been afraid to share with anyone ever again.

He had held her afterwards, stroking her hair, talking to her in soft, sleepily-content tones about nothing and everything; lulling her to sleep with his rich, warm voice and soothing caresses. This was what love was supposed to be like, she knew that now. This was the reason people laid their hearts on the line, opening themselves up to the possibility of hurt again and again; because this made it a risk worth taking.

With a contented sigh she closed her eyes, drifting back into a peaceful slumber, cradled safely in her lover’s arms.

Then he'd roll over and start snoring instead of holding her.

I had this idea about Anya's conversational topics being sex and money because that's all she really had in common with them. The majority of her life was as a demon and anytime she brought it up she was shot down , mostly by Xander. And if maybe she was a little abrupt about the two subjects , that could be because of desperation to be heard and acknowledged. Anya could have been an incredible source of information for them if they had only bothered to ask and then listened. And she would be reluctant to pipe up with this knowledge because of all the times she was shot down.
