[livejournal.com profile] debris4spike asked for a photo of our local church. By English standards (and even most other countries) this is not old, but you have to remember that Caboolture didn't begin settling until 1842, and even today Upper Caboolture (which is a 15 to 20 minute drive along 80km/hour roads to Caboolture itself, so imagine how long that took by horse) is more bush and acreage properties than suburbia, back then it would have been very isolated.

Again, these are BIG pics, so don't click if you have dial-up!

[livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat, I am working on the wildlife pics, unfortunately the local wildlife is being a tad uncooperative (we had flocks of both white and black cockatoos fly over yesterday, but they didn't bother to land even though the white ones usually love landing here and denuding our passionfruit vine). LOL But I do I have a couple of bird pics I took this morning in the church grounds, as soon as I get some more to go with them I'll pop them up.

It is adorable.

I have driven past it almost every day for the last 6 years and never actually stopped for a good look, so I am very glad that Deb asked for pics.

It's so cute!

And it's not new by NW standards. We were very proud of the historic church in my home town; said church was built in the 1850s! It was the oldest building in the county!

LOL We colonials just can't compete with the kind of history that Europe etc have, can we? All we can do is try to preserve what history we do have.

Thank you for those - we don't really have anything to compare with that. Although the cemetary looks similar - very well maintained overall.

They are great - and yes, I did enlarge to see properly - LOL.

It is just the cutest little church. I'm so glad you asked for photos because, as I was telling someone else, I have driven past it every day for about 6 years and never stopped for a proper look before.

It's a lovely wee church.

Isn't it adorable!

The rain seems to be clearing (was just patchy yesterday and today is still a little overcast, but looks like it is going to fine up), so hopefully the creatures will come out to play and I'll be able to snap some pics over the weekend.
