Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.
This was really hard to do, not because I think all my fics are fabulous, far from it--but because they all hold a special place in my heart. I wrote them because I had a story I wanted to tell--something that spoke to me. And even though I know that alot of my earlier fics could really do with a good tidy-up, the story that I set out to tell still appeals to me. Also, I absolutely suck at saying WHY I like something--be it my fic or someone else's.
Axis of Love - Spike/Buffy (complete) Written Oct 2004 Rated MA 15+
This was my first story, and will always hold a very special place in my heart.
I woke up one morning from a incredibly vivid dream and just HAD to write it down before I forgot it. I jotted down, in point form, everything that I could remember and thought nothing more of it for a few days, until I decided to look for some Spike pics on the internet. Searching for 'Spike' brought me to All About Spike, where I made this remarkable discovery--I had never heard of fanfic, had no idea that such a concept existed so I spent the next few weeks alternating between being immersed in the wonderful stories AAS had to offer, and fleshing out my point form notes into a 'real story'. Not long after this I was following links and stumbled across the recently created Bloodshedverse where, thanks to the lovely Bloodshedbaby, I found an online home and met some wonderful people who have come to mean so very much to me (even though I have only ever met a few of them face to face).
Time Around Me Whispers - Spike/Buffy (complete) Written 16th September, 2005 Rated R 18+
It's no secret that I LOVE angsty stories, and this is one of mine. I love it because it's one of those fics where everything just 'worked' when writing it. Things just fell into place exactly the way I'd envisioned them. And it seems to have 'worked' for most of my readers too, which is always a great feeling. Also, it makes me cry when I read it--which I figure is pretty cool. lol
A Future Set in Sand - Spike/Buffy (complete) Started April 2006 - Completed May 2006 Rated M15 +
This was written for a community. It's a 'Spuffy' rewrite of Prophecy Girl . The reasons that I like it? It's evil Spike--my Spike is usually kinda bad, but mostly not all that evil--so this was fun to write in that regard. Also, I hate fight scenes...I mean absolutely LOATHE writing them, and not only are there quite a few in this reasonably short fic, they turned out pretty bloody good (at least I least i think so), so I'm very proud of them.
Postcards From the Ledge - Spike/Buffy (complete) Written August 2006 Rated PG
This was just a fun fic. It was fun to write, and I think it is fun to read. Much less angsty than my usual fare.
We All Have Destinations - (Spike/Buffy) Written July 2006 Rated PG
This is a short story. I mean SHORT. Why I like it? It is a short story that works the way a short story is supposed to. I am quite proud of how much exposition (and, I think, emotion) I managed to get into this very short fic in so few words--without info-dumping.
I guess I have to tag people now--if you've already done this just ignore me (or link me to your post so I can have a read), I have been reasonably busy the last few weeks so haven't read LJ as much as I would have liked and could easily have missed your post.
