[livejournal.com profile] monkeyscorpion asked for: The view from your front porch/front door.

It's a little damp and the day is not the nicest (it's been raining all morning), but here you go...

Again, click for full size.

The view from the front door

And because you can't see much from there, the view from the top of the stairs.

It's all lovely and green because we've actually had rain this year--but the rain also makes for very happy, healthy weeds. LOL It's hard to believe Mark completely weeded that garden just over a week ago. It's much prettier when everything (esp the Dietes) is in flower.

Wow, that looks amazing! It looks like you have a lot of land. It makes my puny drive and garden look like a handkerchief! Very, very nice view :)

Thanks, hun. We have 10 acres, the house-yard is approximately 2 acres, of course it is mostly just grass and gum trees (Eucalytpt).

It's so nice to see it green...we've been in drought for years and while we have a reasonable sized dam on the property and were able to water the garden from it, the grass was mostly dust. The paddock still hasn't recovered, but it's hard with the horses on it--hopefully they will soon be going off for an extended visit to a friend of mine (the house she's renting has about 70 acres of grass).

It's currently -12°C. Our high today was only -10ºC. And our low tonight is -19.33ºC (-3ºF) Tomorrow is more of the same. And our warmest day in the next week is supposed to be Saturday with a high of -1.11ºC (30ºF), which will feel like a heat wave.

So yeah, laugh all you want, but I wanna sleep on your couch! :D

He's a very pretty man. I haven't seen any of it though, just the pictures.

LOL Well, it's a cooler day today because it's raining and it is currently 27C--we've had quite a hot summer this year, but mostly it has been a VERY humid one.

I enjoyed Merlin, you have to ignore everything you know about the Merlin legend and just enjoy it for what it is, but it is great seeing ASH again and I have a love/hate thing for Uther...sometimes I really just want to strangle him, other times I want to give him a big squishy hug.

I'm not built for the climate here, but it's where I was born, and as much as I'd love to move, it costs too much. But I don't know what I'd do with 27C right now. Probably strip naked and dance in the street. :D

ROFLMAO So what would you do with 35C? Because that's about the average temp we've been having (with humidity at 75% plus).

Seriously, I don't know how people can survive in the sort of temps you're talking, I'm cold if it drops below 26C. We average around 10C during the day in winter here and I hate it, it is just so bloody cold! Although it doesn't help that our houses are designed to stay cool, so keeping them warm is all but impossible.

It was -31.66°C two weeks ago. That's cold. :)

And 35ºC is typical in the summer here. Wisconsin definitely gets 4 seasons. I'm in shorts at 10ºC!!

24ºC with 20% humidity is just about as perfect as you can get to me. Not that it happens much here.

(gotta love online F/C converters)

We get up into the mid 40's, but 35 is average. Anything in the 28-35C range is nice as far as I'm concerned, as long as the humidity is low...I hate high humidity (and yet I live in Queensland where it is nearly always humid. lol)

My mind can't even comprehend the kind of cold you're talking about--I've been back to England plenty of times over the years, and it gets COLD in the winter, but they don't get temps like that (at least not in the parts of England I've been to).

And, yes, online temp converters are wonderful.

That's why I think England might be ideal for me. It gets cold but not too cold, hot but not too hot.

The temps we had a couple of weeks ago...that doesn't even factor in the wind chill, which I believe at one point was down to -40. (which is the same in both F and C) Frostbite sets in as quickly as 10 minutes at those temps. I don't even know how to aptly describe how cold that is. We end up with a lot of broken water manes and frozen and bursting pipes around here at those temps.

England is an expensive place to live... Tasmania is much cheaper, and has a similar climate. LOL

LOL Well, it was raining here most of today and they are forecasting more for tomorrow, but summer is our wet season and it is nice to actually be getting a proper wet season, we've been in drought for years.

It is a nice view, nicer from the road as you can see the mountains more clearly. I love the space, I don't think I could go back to living on a suburban block after living on acreage, unfortunately the suburbs are slowly but surely spreading our way.
