Moo...or is that Baa?
Mon, Apr. 21st, 2008 11:33 amWhat's the last thing you wrote? Fic-wise? A Faith/Xander ficlet in Decemeber. Other than that...comments on something I was beta'ing.
Was it any good? Meh...it was okay. (The ficlet, that is...what I was beta'ing was...amusing! *grin*)
What's the first thing you ever wrote that you still have? That I have personally? I have no idea...I don't really have a lot of stuff from when I was a kid... But I am sure my mum has some poems etc that I wrote.
Write poetry? I have. I wouldn't say it was very good, but I have written it. lol
Angsty poetry? Some was, some wasn't.
Most fun character you ever wrote? Hmmm... I'd say Spike or Ethan...they are both fun to write.
Most annoying character you ever wrote? Annoying as a character or annoying to write? The latter, I would say Dru...writing her makes my brain hurt! Annoying as a character...um, I'm not sure... Angel, maybe? He can certainly whine well on occasions.
Best plot you ever wrote? Best is hard to determine as it's such a subjective thing; probably the one that had the potential to be is To Live Again (at least it's the most interesting, IMHO), it now may or may not ever get finished after my computer crashed and I lost all my notes, timelines, family tree etc.
Coolest plot twist you ever wrote? Um...the one I LIKE the most is probably Time around me Whispers
How often do you get writer's block? LOL Far too often!
How do you fix it? As evidenced by the complete lack of updates, I don't... I just wait and hope it will go away!
Do you type or write by hand? Type.
Do you save everything you write? Nope...I'm a big fan of the delete key!
Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it? Not sure how to answer this...I had a folder full of 'evil plot bunnies' (which also got eaten when the computer died *sigh*) but it was really just for putting very general ideas/outlines etc in so I didn't forget them. But if I get as far as actually writing something into a cohesive chapter I don't usually sit on it, it gets posted and added to my growing list of wips. LOL
What's your favorite thing that you've written? That's hard... my first instinct is to say Time Around Me Whispers, but I do have other ficlets like We All Have Destinations or The Longest Night that I think I like as much, and of course there is always an emotional attachment to your first fic (even if it does desperately need going over and having its punctuation etc fixed!)
What's everyone else's favourite thing that you've written? I have no idea. I think my beta's favourite is time Around Me Whispers. LOL As for everyone else, it's hard to know.
Do you even show people your work? I assume this means Real Life people? lol I have. I have no real qualms about people knowing I write Buffy fan fic. My mum knows and she did read on (funnily enough my original characters one that was written for the Watcher's Diaries, so no Spike or Buffy)...it's not really her cup of tea. My husband knows but has no interest. My best friend and my daughter have both read a lot of my fics.
Who's your favorite constructive critic? My beta! *clings to Patti*, also
Did you ever write a novel? LOL I started one when I was a kid, but I think I got bored after about 5 or 6 chapters.
Have you ever written fantasy, sci-fi, or horror? Um...doesn't Buffy fan fic fit into all of the above?
Ever written romance or teen angsty drama? Again...Spuffy! LOL By it's very nature it is Romance, is it not?
What's one genre you have never written, and probably never will? I have no idea... crime stories, maybe?
How many writing projects are you working on right now? Working as in actively working? Um...none. Working as in thinking about and WISHING I was able to write some of? ... I think I have 4 or 5 wips...
Do you want to write for a living? Nope.
Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper? Only the school magazine.
Have you ever won an award for your writing? For fan fic? Yes.
Ever written something in script or play format? Only for school drama.
What is your favorite word? I don't think I have one.
Do you ever write based on yourself? No. Although we all draw on our own experiences and knowledge when writing...so I guess in some way that would have to be a yes.
Which of your characters most resembles you? Um... none, I don't think. Maybe Spike, if he wasn't male, a vampire, superfit and a really good fighter! lol
Where do you get ideas for your characters? I borrow them from Joss!
Do you ever write based on your dreams? Yes, my first fic Axis of Love came about because I had a really intense dream that when I woke up I had to start scribling down so I wouldn't forget any of it! I have had another extremely intense Spuffy dream that I did write down the outline of and put it in that folder... *sigh* Although I'm not sure if I ever would have written it because the dream was so angsty that I'm not sure I could have done it justice.
Do you prefer happy endings, sad endings, or cliff-hangers? Whatever suits the story.
Have you ever written anything based on an artwork you've seen? Yes, a couple of my fics have been based on banners in art-athons etc.
Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write? Yes - my dream is to one day send something to Patti that comes back with NO red on it!
Ever write something entirely in chatspeak? NO!! Although I have received reviews in it--some of which, even with the help of my teen/young adult children, I have never been able to work out.
Does music help you write? Nope, I like complete silence when I'm writing...background noise is just distracting and frustrating.
Are people surprised and confused when they find out you write well? Probably not, I was always either reading or writing something as a kid...
Quote something you've written. Do I have to??
Okay, after consulting my beta... An extract from We All Have Destinations
One photograph caught her eye; it had been taken only the year before. It was his birthday, or at least the one he'd claimed as his. His new birth, that was how he'd always referred to it. They'd gone on a picnic, the whole family—all of his girls and their husbands. It had been a perfect day, warm and sunny and filled with love and laughter. At the end of the day all the girls had crowded around him for the group photo. Buffy, their daughters and granddaughters all laughing and smiling, and his was the happiest smile of them all. Buffy loved that photograph.
She watched Sarah leave; despite her sorrow the girl glowed. They'd found out only the week before that the child she carried was a boy—the first in their family—and Sarah had proudly told her grandfather that he would be named William.
She leaned back against the cushions, sighing wearily as her eyes drifted closed. Today she felt each of her seventy-nine years. It was funny how she'd never felt old before. With him by her side she'd felt young and vibrant. Sometimes it had felt like they could turn a corner and run into Giles, or see Anya hurrying down the street, or her mom watching proudly from the sidelines when the girls received their black belts or at their graduations. Now his absence left her drained and tired in a way she hadn't felt since that first year back on this earth.

Date: 21/4/08 01:48 am (UTC)LOL I really don't set out to be mean to Angel, but he often ends up quite whiny in my stories. (Or just plain evil!)

Date: 21/4/08 01:59 am (UTC)BTW, now that you've posted three fics there, I was able to validate you as an author. Your fics will post automatically from now on. Which means you need to write more Willow fic so it can be posted there...
