'Trust' Drabble for open_on_sunday

Happy Birthday.

She wanted to be angry; to rail furiously at the injustice of yet another cruelty life had felt the need to visit upon her. She would even settle for hurt. Hurt she could deal with; she’d had practice. Instead she was… numb. She looked into the eyes of her watcher; a man she had trusted implicitly, who was more a father to her than her own flesh and blood, and she felt… nothing.

Turning her gaze away from the regret-filled pleading eyes she fixed hers firmly on the ground as he dabbed gently at the wound on her forehead.

Oh yeah! Giles screwed up so bad that it's sometimes hard to believe that they got over it in the end. Perhaps his being fired actually helped, acting as a penance/punishment, but after such a huge betrayal it's hard to imagine Buffy putting her faith in him again. It's strange that most of the time I forget that it ever happened until a piece like this brings me up short and brings it home again. Thank you. Stopping now before? the comment is longer than the drabble.

I'm not really seeing the poor Giles here though, lol. What he did was pretty unforgivable... and yet Buffy still found it in her to forgive him. Don't get me wrong, I adore Giles... just sometimes I would have loved to give him a good shaking! lol.

Yeah, he really did screw up... here and on a few other occasions. They ALL did at times... and it really IS quite amazing that they pretty much all seemed to be able to get past it each time.

Yeah I agree with the shaking him sometimes*lol* but poor Giles I feel he just tried to hard to do the right things at times. I wouldn't trade places with him, as Buffy was such self absorbed pain in the butt.
