Just a quick update on me

My laptop decided to die over the weekend and is off being repaired, in the meantime I have pieced my PC (which wasn't working) back together with some parts from an ancient PC and it is kinda, sorta working a bit (although I have just spent the better part of the last 2 days fighting with it and trying to reinstall Windows--THANK YOU Tracey!!!). So, if I'm not around very much, that is why.

I will TRY to play catch up once I get the laptop back (God knows when that will be). In the meantime I've lost all my email (including my Seasonal Spuffy posting date...so if you are reading this Jerusha, would you mind sending it to me again?), a lot of email addy's, some bookmarks (though not too many as I had taken to using the yahoo toolbar for my bookmarks) and some of the files on my laptop although fortunately I was able to save quite a lot of them!

Now I'm off to start loading programs back onto the PC and hopefully I'll have a fully functional computer again soon!

I always find it amazing how much we really depend on computers which are such evil pieces of machinery to just crap out on us... le sigh. Hope you get it working soon.

Maybe it's an Aquarian thing, specifically 10th Feb girls, because my laptop died too! I'm using a sporadically pleasant laptop while I fight to get the data out of my old one before giving it to my dad to mend. Consequently, I've no clue what I'm supposed to be doing and when, the essay that is due tomorrow for my creative writing course is partially on the other laptop and I may miss a few important dates. Oh, and finished chapters of my spuffyhaven fic are on the old one. I'm hoping *fingers and toes crossed* that tomorrow I can retrieve the rest of the stuff as I've borrowed a monitor, so wish me luck. Hope your baby gets fixed soon. Who do you think hates us? *grins*

If you use Firefox there's a wonderful little add on called FoxMarks which will save all your bookmarks so that you can access them from any computer you choose. It's been invaluable to me. It automatically updates as soon as you do any editing/changing of your list too.

Hope the laptop is OK when it comes back.

Computers are like vampires ... evil yet strangely compelling. Sorry to hear that your laptop is still on the blink. If it's under warranty and you sent it to the manufacturer, then they have the habit of taking their own sweet time returning it. At least, Lucifer's Home Computer Company (otherwise known as "Dell") has that habit. Hopefully, yours was built by kinder, gentler hands.
