Ivy discovered the cat's scratching post yesterday and thought it was great to climb...the only problem was how to get back down again. lol

She ran around on the top shelf for about 15 minutes until I rescued her
.
Then it was time to go back in her cage...which she said was just NOT fair!

What did the kitty do when she smelled rat?

But as she takes up semi-permanent residence on my lap or the back of my chair, and is the most spoilt creature on the face of the earth, she doesn't really have too much to complain about.

Alas she's not a cuddle-rat, not like Bailey was. Ivy is much more independent.

:( I'll just have to look lovingly at Ivy x

As long as you got the right cage, you'd be okay...but it would need to be both rat and Merlot proof!
My cage wouldn't stand up to a determined dog, I don't think it would even stand up to a determined cat, fortunately Jkeira isn't all that interested--she just likes to glare at Ivy. I have my eye on a really amazing cage that is much sturdier and has a smaller gap between the bars as I'm thinking about getting a yougster or two to keep Ivy company--she doesn't seem to be too lonely since Bailey pased away, but it's not good for them to be solitary, as they are very social animals.

She's such a funny little creature, she has to have everything just so, and one of the best (and funniest) ways to annoy her is to rearrange her things--she then has to put everything back where it belongs while making cranky noises at you. Watching a little rat dragging around things three times her size while muttering to herself is hilarious.

Nevermind that she jumps more than the distance from the top shelf to the one below regularly in her cage (she has things to climb down but prefers to just drop and scare me).

My other rat (Bailey) was a cuddler, when she came out she was happy to sit on you and have a snuggle... Ivy is more of an explorer and I am so worried she will do something stupid (like chew a powercord) that she only gets to come out for playtime when someone has time to watch her carefully.
