Fanfic reading meme

Snagged from everyone...

1) Why do you read fanfic?

For the same reason I write, I love the characters. And, as I hardly buy books anymore, it has the added benefit of saving me a fortune. lol

2) When did you read your first fanfic and which fandom was it for?

2004 BtVS I stumbled upon All About Spike and discovered this strange thing called fanfic.

3) Which fandoms do you, or have you, read?

I mainly read BtVS and some AtS, I have read Firefly and Torchwood, and I read Harry Potter fic by [livejournal.com profile] talesofsnape ([livejournal.com profile] talesofspike)

4) Do you also write fanfics or do you only read?

I write too, just not as regularly as I would like.

5) What do you enjoy the most when reading? (dialogue, descriptions, plot, characterizations, humour, angst...)

Plot, angst, characterisations... um... how about I just say a nice sprinkling of all of the above?

6) Which genres do you mainly read? (action, angst, dark, drama, horror, humour...)

I suppose I mainly read drama or angst, having said that, I probably read all of the above quite regularly.

7) Which genres will you not read?

I won't say 'won't', because judging and moderating mean I am required to read fics I wouldn't otherwise seek out. I am not a fan of all human, I have fortunately never had the need to read MPreg and hope I never do, I'm not keen on torture or slave fics (although I have read some I loved), ditto with BDSM, and honestly pwp's lost their appeal years ago...I really like a nice big helping of plot with my porn...in fact, I can happily skip the porn.

8) Is giving reader comments/responses important?

If I have enjoyed the story, yes. If I haven't enjoyed it, the chances are I didn't finish it anyway (unless I was judging).

9) Do you give concrit?

As a site moderator? Yes, I have to give some level of concrit when I reject a story. Outside of that? Rarely unless it's someone I'm betaing for or know well.

10) Which is your favourite character to read fanfic for and why?

Spike. Why? Because he's Spike.

11) Which are your favourite ships (including friendships) that you read the most?

Spike/Buffy, Giles/Ethan, Giles/Anya, Giles/Joyce (that Giles is a busy boy, isn't he?), Wesely/Faith.

Friendships? Any really. I like really Spike friendship fics, but that is probably because of the Spike factor. LOL

12) Do you read WIP's or finished fanfics only?

Either.

13) Drabbles, One-shots or Multi-chapters?

All of the above!

LOL I'm working on a fic atm, but it's Spuffy.

I'm still glad you're writing. After all, you forgive me for writing Willow/Angel.

LOL

Thank you!

I must say, I'm rather happy to be writing--of course it's not any of my wips. *sigh* But at least it is something, and it's actually flowing rather nicely. I'd forgotten what it's like to write without it being a struggle.

Great to see your answers -

Spike. Why? Because he's Spike. .... Of course!

*jumps on the comment where you say you're writing some Spuffy at the moment*

That's great news - I'm glad you're feeling the urge to write some of that. :)

LOL Well, I've been writing Spuffy all along and have (very slowly) been updating my A Grain of Sand, but this is a new fic. It's not expected to be very long...maybe 3 chaps in total. I have finished the prologue and have half of the first chap done, so fingers crossed it will keep flowing. I'd love to have it finished for the 15th (my posting date on Season Spuffy). At the moment I am just really enjoying actually writing without it being a constant struggle.

Glad to read that you are writing more Spuffy. I'm looking forward to it. :)

I really like this meme and I enjoyed reading your answers.

It is definitely a fun meme!

I'm not making any promises (because I'm down to do art), but I'd really love to have this finished by the 15th for my posting at Seasonal Spuffy (I will still do the art post too). But mostly, as I commented above, it is just so nice to actually be writing without it being a struggle. I'd forgotten how great that feels!

Glad to hear that you'll write more spuffy - even if it's not one or your WIPS.
Looking forward to read your new story.

Thanks, honey! I'm really enjoying writing this story, it's flowing nicely and won't be very long (maybe 3 chaps), so hopefully when it's finished the muse will continue to play nice and let me finish A Grain of Sand.
